I get home to find out my treadmill is broken. I hate running outside in slush/ice. I'm probably just gonna go to the Y and play ball everyday instead.

Went shoulder/bi/tri today since my lower back has been really stiff since Saturday. Even a shoulder press seemed to aggravate it so not sure yet how I'm gonna go about this.

I need to come up with a good routine for this month I'm home.

If your back has been stiff, the first thing you should do when you get up in the morning is do small stretches for about 20 min and try to get out the kinks. Also, maybe try it in the shower due to the hot water making your back less tense.

Speaking of which, I think I went too crazy on deadlift last week and now I have this kink in my erector spinae, lower back area.

I really need to start lifting but never have. Planning to try and start tomorrow or thursday. Any advice on where to start what to do? I dislike reading books about lifting, dont really care which parts I work, dont like hearing "it depends on the person", going for legs/arms/chest, would rather just have a list of a couple (2/3) exercises for each that i can repeat weekly etc.

This article highlights some basic movements and a basic training split:

Well if you've never lifted before, it does matter how you start and what you do.
So if you want to lift, you should read up on it some.

Yeah, if you've never lifted, the idea is to do a lot of multi-joint exercises to build up core strength (squats, lunges, barbell rows, deadlifts, presses, pull-ups) before you even think about stupid isolation movements like bicep curls.

No, actually i say start with skull crushers. Get about 60-70 lbs on the bar to start off with.. you will do fine.

NO NO NO
what you need to do is wrist curls. Gotta isolate your forearm extensors and flexors if you really wanna get big.

Both are solid ideas, imo.

10 lbs will probably be a little tough. I want to start to get in shape for intramural bball that is happening soon, plus dropping weight is always good.
